Hospitalists are physicians and nurse practitioners who focus their practice in the inpatient (hospital) setting. A majority of these physicians are trained in Internal Medicine.
Traditionally, internists (doctors of internal medicine) would visit patients in the hospital, treat patients in the office, and visit patients in nursing home/sub-acute rehab settings. As the healthcare system became more complex, the demands placed on physicians in the inpatient, outpatient, and rehab settings grew exponentially. In an effort to promote higher quality and more efficient medical care, Hospitalist positions emerged.
The role of a hospitalist is multifaceted. Hospitalists have become the primary medical providers in the hospital setting, delivering quality inpatient care with a focus on efficiency. The well-being of our patients is our highest priority.
In addition to managing the daily care of patients in the hospital, Kennedy Health Alliance hospitalists serve as the link between the hospital, sub-acute rehab and outpatient settings, working closely with many primary care providers in the South Jersey area. It is our job is to ensure that your plan of care is carried out well past your stay in the hospital.
We believe our interaction with patients should exemplify the highest degree of professionalism, courtesy, and respect. Treating our patients as family is our mantra.
Welcome to Kennedy!
